CRIME BLOTTER: Knife-Wielding Driver Threatens UPS Worker in East Flatbush

EAST FLATBUSH — A driver threatened a UPS deliveryman with a knife and stole property from the front seat of his truck after a traffic dispute in the neighborhood this week, police said.

The 48-year-old UPS worker told police he was driving on Winthrop Street near Schenectady Avenue around 4 p.m. on Feb. 4 when the male suspect cut in front of his truck, parked in front of it and got out of his car.

The suspect then climbed into the UPS truck, threatened the driver with a knife, swiped a UPS inspection report book from the front seat and drove away.

The UPS driver was uninjured in the incident, police said.

► Police executing a search warrant at 292 Midwood St. in the early morning of Feb. 3 recovered a firearm and marijuana and arrested a 34-year-old man living in the apartment building. He was charged with multiple counts of criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of marijuana, court records show.

► A 29-year-old man was walking along Winthrop Street between Rogers and Nostrand avenues around 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 4 when two unknown males approached him from behind, held his shirt collar and removed his wallet, containing cash and a MetroCard. The man, who was walking from a store when the robbery took place, told police the two men fled on foot.

► A man was making a delivery for a local wine and spirits shop on Utica Avenue and Union Street around 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 4 when an unknown suspect or suspects removed a case of Svedka Vodka, a box of Old Overholt whiskey, Chateau Ste. Michelle wine and a hand truck from the back of his truck, police said.

► A 30-year-old woman was walking along Parkside Avenue between Nostrand and New York avenues around 2 p.m. on Feb. 5 when an unknown male suspect threw her to the ground and forcibly removed her wallet, containing multiple credit cards, a MetroCard and her state I.D., from her hand, police said.

► Unknown suspects smashed the window of a car and stole money and credit cards out of it on Fenimore Street on Feb. 6, police said. The 25-year-old owner of the car said he parked the Nissan Altima in front of 465 Fenimore St. between Brooklyn and New York avenues around midnight and came back at 9 a.m. to find the passenger side window shattered and about $600 in cash removed.
