EAST VILLAGE — Two men were arrested Tuesday after stabbing a man in the back in the East Village Dec. 5, police said.

Phillip Daniel, 24, and Emmanuel Rodman, 23, were arrested Tuesday on charges of attempted murder and assault, police said.

Police said they repeatedly stabbed a 49-year-old man in front of 311 E. 9th St. shortly before 5 a.m. Dec. 5. The victim was transported by emergency responders to Bellevue Hospital, treated and released, officials said.

The NYPD said the suspects, who live down the street from one another in Morningside Heights, were picked up following a tip.

Phillip was arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court on Wednesday morning and ordered held on $100,000 bail, according to the Manhattan District Attorney's office. Emmanuel was awaiting arraignment as of Wednesday afternoon, the DA's office said.

On Wednesday morning, a barista at Mud, a coffee house next to the location of the stabbing, said she hadn't seen any criminal activity during the several months she had worked there.

"It's usually a nice area — very calm," she said. "I've never had any issues."
