EAST HARLEM — A 75-year-old woman accused her home health aide of stealing more than $2,000 worth of jewelry, police said.

The woman, who lives on 121st Street, told police the theft happened Wednesday, Feb. 3 about 1 p.m., according to the NYPD.

That afternoon, the woman and her home health aide, who is 28, went out for a walk. But when they stepped outside the 75-year-old was too cold and asked the aide to go back to the apartment for her jacket.

That was the only time anybody had access to her apartment, the woman told police.

Later that day, the woman discovered two 14-carat gold chains, two 14-carat gold earrings, and a watch missing from the top left drawer of her dresser, police said.

The NYPD said that the home health aide is a suspect but no arrests have made.
