So you don't care much about the Super Bowl, but you still want to do some day-drinking on Sunday.

We've got an adorable alternative. At least four venues in the city are screening the Puppy Bowl (XII) —  which airs live on Animal Planet at 3 p.m. and will be replayed at 6:30 p.m., right when the Big Game begins

The televised event releases two teams of rescue puppies onto a fake football field, where their objective — unbeknownst to them — is to drag toys past goal lines and score touchdowns. Breaking up the canine competition is a “Kitty Half-Time Show" featuring kittens pawing their way around a set of San Francisco, where the Super Bowl is taking place this year.

South 4th Bar and Cafe in Williamsburg has made a tradition of putting on the Puppy Bowl the afternoon of Super Bowl Sunday.

Five years ago, Olivia Shank started working the early Sunday bartending shift, and she decided she wasn't the only one at the bar who'd enjoy watching animals frolic on TV as a warm-up to football.

"I like watching the Super Bowl, but sometimes you need a pre-game," said Shank, who also works as a tech at a veterinarian's office.

"People actually get mad about changing the channel to the Super Bowl," she said.

Here are four places where you can root for #TeamRuff and #TeamFluff while everyone else has their eyes on the Colorado Broncos and the Carolina Panthers:

► South 4th Bar & Cafe, 90 S. 4th St., Williamsburg

Watch the pups and kittens on the bar's big screen in the back. There's no cover and there will be free food: chili and jambalaya at 4 p.m., Brickhouse Pizza at 5 p.m., and a 6-foot hero sandwich at 6 p.m.

Drinks are on you, though. The bar is offering $5 draft and $15 pitcher specials of three Sam Adams selections and Angry Orchard all day, and a $5 make-your-own Bloody Mary bar.

Nitehawk Cinema, 136 Metropolitan Ave., Williamsburg

While you're watching the Big Game at this dine-in movie theater Sunday, you can sneak peeks of the Puppy Bowl in the lobby.

Tickets, which cover the cost of house-made hot wings and drink specials, cost $30.

► QED: A Place to Show & Tell, 27-16 23rd Ave., Astoria

This Astoria cafe and performance venue is screening the "Puppy Bowl in the front!" and hosting a "Super Bowl party in the back!" according to organizers. There will be pizza, chicken wings, prizes and beer specials throughout the night, as well as games hosted by comedian Derek Humphrey.

The Saint Catherine, 660 Washington Ave., Prospect Heights

As our friends at Brokelyn noted, this Prospect Heights bar will have the Puppy Bowl on during its Sunday happy hour, when drafts and well drinks are $2 off, and you can order $1 meatloaf sliders. Brunch is available until 4 p.m.
