BUSHWICK — Home invaders got cold feet after a scuffle with a woman living in the house they were trying to rob forced them to flee without their shoes, police said.

The three burglars, who entered a Bushwick Avenue home near Hancock Street just after midnight on Jan. 27, began rummaging through drawers and eventually confronted the 50-year-old victim who was sleeping, according to police.

They covered her mouth to keep her from screaming while attempting to drag her into the bathroom, the victim told authorities.

But the woman managed to fight off her attackers, though she fell down some stairs and injured her knee, police said.

Following the skirmish the three men fled the location, though in their frenzy they left their shoes behind, according to police. It is unknown why they'd taken their shoes off.

Nobody had been arrested as of Wednesday though an investigation is ongoing, an NYPD spokesperson confirmed.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or visit its website.
