QUEENS — Police are looking for a purse snatcher they say is targeting nail salons.

The woman, described as being in her 20s or 30s with a medium build and shoulder-length black hair, has struck at least 14 times since Sept. 29 when she stole a purse from a nail salon on Parsons Boulevard in Kew Gardens Hills, according to the NYPD.

She has targeted mostly salons in Queens, including Jamaica, Rego Park, Briarwood and Woodhaven, but also in Williamsburg in Brooklyn and Parkchester in the Bronx, authorities said.

Police said the suspect usually enters a salon, grabs a purse or a wallet from cabinets, drawers or underneath desks and flees on foot.

The stolen items included at least $500 in cash and numerous credit and debit cards. In several cases, the cards were later used to make unauthorized transactions, police said.

The most recent incident occurred on Jan. 7 on Jamaica Avenue in Woodhaven.

Police said the woman was last seen wearing a black coat and dark-colored pants. She often carries a large light-colored purse or a large black purse with neon green straps, officials said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1(800) 577-TIPS (8477).
