CROWN HEIGHTS — A man was caught trying to steal two tip jars from a local coffee shop last week, police said.

The 26-year-old man walked into Marker Coffee at 241 Rogers Ave. near President Street at roughly 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 13, police said.

Moments later, he grabbed two tip jars filled with about $40 in cash and tried to leave, according to a police report.

But as he was leaving, a Marker worker stopped the man and he returned the two jars and the cash. Responding officers arrested the would-be thief soon afterward.

The above incident is part of DNAinfo’s weekly crime blotter made from reports to the 71st Precinct in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens, Crown Heights and East Flatbush.
