Video Shows Teens Who Beat Muslim Man While Chanting 'ISIS,' Police Say

By Aidan Gardiner | January 19, 2016 11:16am

THE BRONX — Police released video of two teenagers they said donned ski masks and beat a Bangladeshi man while shouting "ISIS, ISIS!" in front of his niece.

The masked teens knocked the victim, who reports identified as Mujibur Rahman, 43, to the ground near a middle school campus at 1111 Pugsley Ave., near Watson Avenue, about 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 15, NYPD officials said.

They then punched and kicked the man, who had been walking with his niece, as he lay on the ground, police said.

"They said, 'ISIS, ISIS' and they started to hit me," Rahman told NY1.

The victim suffered a black eye and bruising to his face, police said. He was treated and released from Jacobi Hospital.

Investigators released a 9-second video showing the pair of suspects running down the sidewalk. It was not immediately clear if the video was taken before or after the attack.

The teens, both of whom wore dark clothing, had not been arrested as of Tuesday morning, police said.

The NYPD's Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the incident, police said.

Local politicians planned to gather at the middle school campus Tuesday morning to condemn the attack.
