The Best Upper West Side Instagram Accounts to Follow

By Emily Frost | January 6, 2016 10:50am

UPPER WEST SIDE — Whether you're a newbie to the neighborhood or a longtime local, following your neighbors on Instagram is a great way to see what's going on and to remember why you chose to call the Upper West Side home.

Here's a list of our favorite local Instagram accounts to follow across a range of categories.

For the Dog Lover

► @juju_citronella

This adorable rescue dog, a Golden Retriever and Cocker Spaniel mix, doesn't take a bad photo. Between prancing through Riverside Park, pausing by local landmarks and monuments, or taking a snooze on a sunny bench, Juju will capture your heart — or at the very least, lift your spirits.

► @dogsoftheuws

Why pick just one dog to follow? Courtney Ronner decided to profile all of the neighborhood's dogs as they make their way through local streets and parks. Her feed captures the diversity of dogs living and playing here and is full of personality. We'd expect nothing less from our canine pals.

Streetscapes and Stunning Views

► @ilovetheupperwestside

Mike Mishkin has built his real estate business on knowing the neighborhood well, and his Instagram account shows that with shots of buildings, businesses, new spots and the changing of seasons.

► @upperwestsidemanhattan

From the cherry blossoms in spring to Zabar's on a rainy night, the photos on this feed feature an abundant love of the neighborhood and the city. The majority of the photos are taken outside and feature the interplay of light and shadow.

► @landmarkwest

While getting a taste of the advocacy organization's point of view on matters related to development and preservation, you'll also get a healthy dose of neighborhood history through shots of buildings and architectural details that help make the area unique.

Between Two Parks

► @centralparknyc

The proximity to Central Park is one reason so many people claim for why they live on the Upper West side. This account, run by the Central Park Conservancy, is filled with dazzling shots of the park in each season and features fun facts as well as advisories.

► @riversideparknyc

This feed showcasing Riverside Park, with its waterfront views and gorgeous sunsets and this account, is not shy about featuring both prominently. Like @centralparknyc, this feed, run by the park's conservancy, highlights its unique features, monuments and walkways.

► @centralparkbenches

If you love reading the quirky and heartwarming messages on the benches in Central Park, follow this account, even if you don't make it into the park.

This self-described foodie has a seemingly endless budget for dining out. While this diner doesn't limit the string of entree and dessert photos to only Upper West Side spots, they're featured heavily in the feed. If you want inspiration for where to eat in the neighborhood, you'll find it here.
