COBBLE HILL — After more than five years in the neighborhood, Cobble Hill restaurant Brucie will close its doors next year, according to a heartfelt letter posted on its website.

"Dear New York," the note began, "How do I explain how deeply I love you? Your vivaciousness, your energy, your people, the smell of your hair......."

"Goodbye New York, I will be closing my doors February 15th. I don't know where I am going , but I know where I have been, and it was in the arms of the greatest city in the whole wide world," the letter said.

The financial strain of running a restaurant in the city was more than owner Zahra Tangorra could handle, she told Eater, which first reported the closing.

"It is the hardest and saddest decision I have ever made," she told the site.

Cobble Hill recently lost another local favorite, Ted & Honey, which closed last month. It will soon be replaced however by another spot from the owners of La Vara.

The cozy Italian eatery located at 234 Court St. had turned into a neighborhood staple since its opening. Brucie also gained popularity for its celebrity-themed Valentine's Day menus.

Over the years, they have served Beyoncé-inspired dishes like "Jay-Ziti" and "I Am Pasta Fierce" as well as Kim and Kanye-themed dinners with desserts such as "Imma Let You Finish."

Brucie will remain open for one last Valentine's Day celebration before shuttering. The eatery will also host a special New Year's Eve dinner at $100 per person.
