UPPER WEST SIDE — A "trendy" Pilates studio that combines cardio with the traditional workout method and has a devoted fan base announced it will open its 10th outpost, on Columbus Avenue at West 88th Street.

SLT, which stands for "Strengthen Lengthen Tone," describes its workout as "if cardio, strength training, and Pilates had a baby." The 50-minute sessions use the Megaformer, a Pilates machine that incorporates cardio moves.

The new 1,300-square-foot studio at 580 Columbus Ave., near West 88th Street, will offer private and group classes for $40 a session.

The studio will open on Jan. 9, a spokeswoman said.

“We believe that the UWS is one of the few areas of the city that has a dearth of fitness options," owner Amanda Freeman said in a release Friday. "We are excited for Upper West Siders to experience SLT, which provides clients the full-body results they’ve always wanted through a trendy challenging, core-intensive workout."

In addition to studios in the Hamptons, Westchester and New Jersey, SLT also has four locations in Manhattan — in SoHo, Midtown, the Flatiron District and on the Upper East Side.

Freeman launched the studio because she wanted a workout that included the benefits of Pilates with an increased heart beat and some more sweat, she told Well + Good. Freeman described the workout as "Type-A" version of Pilates because class attendees, especially New Yorkers pressed for time, want to feel like they've accomplished something.

Ripco's Doug Kleiman represented the landlord in the deal.
