UPPER EAST SIDE — After the Jewish Museum closes to the public on Nov. 19, it will transform into a dance hall with live music, art and an open bar.

The museum's after-hours event, called "The Wind Up," is inspired by one of its current exhibits called "The Power of Pictures: Early Soviet Photography, Early Soviet Film," featuring striking images and video created during the Bolshevik Revolution through the 1930s, when art was used amid extreme political action.

Igor Shorman, who hails from Siberia and goes by "DJ Spinach," will spin international music, including afrobeat, reggae and hip hop. Dance band Romashka will also play folk music from Russia, Romania and the Balkans.

The photo exhibit will be open from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. during the event, and will be open to the public during normal museum hours through February 7, 2016.

The event, which costs $13 in advance and $18 the day of, runs from 8 to 11 p.m. at the museum on Fifth Avenue and 92nd Street.
