'12 Angry Men: True Stories of Being a Black Man in America Today'

Where: The Kumble Theater, 1 University Plaza, Downtown
When: Various times, Saturday and Sunday

Check out the extended run of the theatrical performance based on the book, “12 Angry Men: True Stories of Being a Black Man in America Today.” The cast includes John Amos from “Good Times” and Dulé Hill of “The West Wing.” The reading tells the stories of men from across the nation who share their experiences of racial profiling. Friday, Nov. 13

A Brooklyn Backyard Bonfire    

Where: Secret Brownstone Location, Bed-Stuy
When: 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Hang out with model Tyson Beckford, style expert Tai Beauchamp, and “The Wire” actor Gbenga Akinnagbe at this fundraiser for the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts. Spiked apple cider and snacks will be served, and guests can indulge in finger painting. The event’s location will be disclosed upon ticket purchase, with tickets starting at $50.

Nitehawk Shorts Film Festival 2015: Midnite

Where: Nitehawk Cinema, 136 Metropolitan Ave., Williamsburg
When: 11:45 p.m.

The third annual Nitehawk Shorts Film Festival features midnight screenings by international filmmakers. The shorts include “Rat Tail,” about a young couple and pranks in the nude, and “Psychotic!,” in which a serial killer finds himself hiding at a surprise birthday party in Bushwick.  Tickets cost $11.

Prospect Park Cabaret Night

Where: Picnic House in Prospect Park
When: 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Enjoy the music of the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s played by local ensemble group The Rhapsody Players in this “Cabaret Night” benefitting the Prospect Park Alliance. Bring your dancing shoes! Tickets to the event are $75 each.

Saturday, Nov. 14

Red Hook Glass Bottom Dramatical Players present: P.S. It’s Poison

Where: Jalopy Tavern and Theater, 315 Columbia St., Columbia Street Waterfront District
When: 3 p.m.

A dark comedy by Mark Spitz, “P.S. It’s Poison” tells the story of a group of friends who are brought together by a “mysterious package” from an old professor. Tickets are priced at $20.

Brownstone Jazzfest and Fish Fry

Where: Sankofa Aban Bed and Breakfast, 107 Macon St., Bed-Stuy
When: 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

Listen to live jazz from vocalist Gary Samuels, along with a blues and gospel ensemble in this intimate brownstone performance. Intermission at the bed and breakfast brings a fish fry buffet for guests, and the night continues with an open mic segment. Tickets start at $40.

Domestic Violence Walk in Prospect Park

Where: Prospect Park
When: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Join the nonprofit Jericho Road, Inc. for a walk in support of victims of domestic violence. A $10 contribution is suggested to benefit the Family Justice Center in Brooklyn, which serves domestic violence survivors.

Matt Zoller Seitz’s Episode-By-Episode Guide to 'Mad Men' Book Reading

Where: BookCourt, 163 Court St., Cobble Hill
When: 4 p.m.

Relive the glory days of “Mad Men” with critic Matt Zoller Seitz who will be reading from his book, “Mad Men: Carousel,” that collects Seitz’s popular recaps of the hit TV show. The book also features unpublished essays about the show’s first three seasons.

Big Break Comedy Night

Where: Bluebird Cafe, 504 Flatbush Ave., Prospect-Lefferts Gardens
When: 8 p.m.

Comedians Jeffrey Joseph, Lance Weiss, Joyelle Johnson, Tim Duffy, Selena Coppock and Tyler Gildin will join the stage for this $5-a-ticket comedy night in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens.

Sunday, Nov. 15

Girls Read for Girls

Where: Brooklyn Public Library Central Branch, Grand Army Plaza
When: 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Join girls from across Brooklyn for a read-a-thon to support The Malala Fund. The nonprofit was founded by Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani teenager who was shot and nearly killed by the Taliban in 2012 after she spoke out in support of educating women.

Cold Weather Riding Bike Workshop

Where: Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration, 1368 Fulton St., Bed-Stuy
When: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Local organizations, Citi Bike, and cycling groups host this free informational on the city’s bike share program. Learn how to prep your gear for the winter weather and get tips on commuter cycling.

Smoke The Cat's Feral Feline Fundraiser

Where: High Dive Bar, 243 Fifth Ave., Park Slope
When: 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The story of Smoke the Cat's disappearance from Park Slope and recovery six weeks later in Red Hook captured the hearts of many hardened New Yorkers. Now Smoke wants to give back to the feline community by hosting a fundraiser to provide winter shelters for feral kitties who don't have homes. For every drink purchased, $1 will go toward buying a cat shelter. Families are welcome. There will be face painting for the kids.

The Acoustic Electric Series at 61 Local

Where: 61 Local, 61 Bergen St., Boerum Hill
When: Doors open at 7:30 p.m., music starts at 8 p.m.

A series of concerts at 61 Local will feature vintage electric pianos that have been restored at Big Wrench Piano Care on Smith Street. J.A. Granelli Trio and Nate Shaw will perform at the Bergen Street bar’s upstairs space. The shows are free but a $10 donation is suggested. $5 pints will be available during the show along with a selection of wine and beer at the bar.
