Micro-suites and prefabricated modular apartments, like those comprising the city's first micro-apartment complex in Kips Bay, are the cutting-edge solution to New York's housing crisis.

There might be another answer, long overlooked: dumpsters.

A Craigslist ad posted Wednesday seeks a "hipster type" for a "dumpster apartment" in Williamsburg.

"This art deco hipster retro mini apt from a converted dumpster is green friendly and sustainable," reads the listing. "And trendy."

The corresponding photograph shows a door to the backside of the dumpster allegedly for rent in New York's trendiest neighborhood. We're surprised the poster didn't tout the dwelling's retractable sunroof.

You can live in fashionable squalor for $1,200 a month or $200 a night.

The Craigslist poster did not immediately respond to request for comment.
