Museum of Mathematics
Where? 11 E. 26th St., Flatiron
When? 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
How Much? Adults $15, kids $9. 
The National Museum of Mathematics began in response to the closing of a small museum of mathematics on Long Island, the Goudreau Museum in 2006. With no dedicated math museum in the USA, a group of math lovers created the National Museum of Mathematics for hands-on math programming and exhibitions in 2009. The Museum explores the impact mathematics have on the world around us with dozens of hands-on exhibits and workshops, suited for kids and teens of all ages. Explore laser lights, dynamic fractal trees, create harmonic soundscapes, play math games, interact with a robot swarm and paint a digital canvas inspired by symmetry. 

Art Workshop: Create Your Own Cartoon Characters
Where? Central Library, 10 Grand Army Plaza, Prospect Heights
When? 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
How Much? Free
Join cartoonist Jerry Craft as he shares his experiences as a professional cartoonist and illustrator. He'll show you the secrets behind creating his Mama's Boyz comic strip and teach you how he creates his children's books from start to finish. Then he’ll give you step-by-step instruction to show you how you can use simple shapes to create your own comic book characters. 

Family Art Workshops
Where? MoMA, The Dorothy C. and Louis B Cullman Education and Research Building, located at 4 W. 54 St., Midtown
When? Various times on Saturday and Sunday
How Much? Programs are included with museum admission. For each event, you may register for up to two adults and three children.
Explore works of art in MoMA’s galleries, then use your experience as inspiration for art-making in the studio. Kids and adults participate together. On Saturday and Sunday a few sessions of the following classes: Putting It Together: Assemblage (Ages 4, 8-10 and 11-14) and the Art of Abstraction: Joaquín Torres Garcia (Ages 11-14). Holiday Express: Toys and Trains from the Jerni Collection and Superheroes in Gotham
Where? New-York Historical Society, 170 Central Park West at Richard Gilder Way (77th Street), Upper West Side
When? Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.  
How Much? Adults $20, Kids (5-13 years) $6. 
Two exhibitions now showing will appeal to kids. Just opened, Toys and Trains from the Jerni Collection is a world famous exhibition of model trains, scenic elements and toys from a bygone era. Superheroes in Gotham tells the story of the birth of comic book superheroes — from Batman to Spider-Man — in New York City. 

Holiday Movie Season
Where? In cinemas across the city
When? Ongoing
This weekend "The Peanuts Movie" joins current kids faves "Goosebumps", "Hotel Transylvania 2" and "Pan" in cinemas across the city. Charles M. Schulz's characters from "Peanuts" are making their CG-animated and 3D big-screen debut, crafted by Blue Sky Studios, the creators of the "Ice Age" films.

Birds of Prey and Game On
Where? Bronx Library Center, 310 East Kingsbridge Rd., Fordham
When? Saturday and Sunday
How Much? Free
Saturday at 2 p.m., join the experts from the New Canaan Nature Center for an up close look at Birds of Prey and on Sunday from 3:30 p.m., meet other kids and play Wii, PS3 and Xbox games at the Bronx Library Center. For ages 7 to 12 years old.
