An enormous mannequin featuring a papier-mache rendering of Donald Trump's face is turning heads on Madison Avenue.
The centerpiece of the window display at Alexis Bittar, a high-end jewelry shop near East 83rd Street, shows a caricature of Trump preening in front of a mirror with a thought bubble saying "I mean, part of the beauty of me is that I'm very rich."
His body is decked in a suit made of fake 100 dollar bills and the shop's own bangles, brooches and necklaces dangle from his wrists and neck.
Tara Kurobe, a spokeswoman for Alexis Bittar, said that the company's visual team created the display "in a salute to the absurdity that is prime-time American politics and to The Donald’s larger-than-life persona."
"Seeing that it is also Halloween, what could be more unexpected and just plain hilarious than an effigy or caricature of Mr. Trump in our windows, bling-ed out to the max in Alexis’ latest collections?" she said. "Mr. Trump’s campaign for the presidency has been a surprising, weirdly delightful addition to the news cycle this fall. Like it or not, he is proving to have quite the impact on our daily conversations."
The mannequin also went up in Alexis Bittar's other Manhattan stores in SoHo, West Village and on Columbus Avenue, she said.
The company's Boston, Washington and Los Angeles locations also have their own trumped up windows.
The wacky figure went up in the Madison Avenue shop last Thursday, Oct. 22, and will remain until mid-November, she said.
