PROSPECT HEIGHTS — Police are searching for a man they say broke into a popular local bar last week and walked out with a cash register and bottles of liquor.

The burglary took place in the early morning hours of Oct. 20, around 3:38 a.m., police said, when the man lifted the front roll-down gate at Soda Bar on Vanderbilt Avenue and broke into the front door.

The suspect then took an unknown number of liquor bottles, officials said, and a cash register with $20 inside.

The bar closed for one night due to the burglary, cancelling a planned trivia event and Mets game viewing, the staff announced in a series of Facebook posts.

"Our staff was not there and everyone is safe," one of the messages read.

The police department released photos of the suspect on Tuesday, taken from surveillance footage inside the bar, located at 629 Vanderbilt Ave. in Prospect Heights. The man is seen wearing a light-colored, hooded sweatshirt and a full beard.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
