Man Sitting in Front of Parked Car Killed When Driver Pulls Away: NYPD

By Eddie Small | October 22, 2015 10:07am

WESTCHESTER SQUARE — A man who collapsed in front of a parked car and then stayed seated against its front bumper was killed after the driver got in and ran him over, police said.

Guy Ryff, 58, had walked up to the front of a 2010 Toyota parked by the intersection of Lane and Tremont avenues around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday when he fell down in front of the vehicle, according to the NYPD.

The car was unoccupied and legally parked in a marked spot at the time, and Ryff stayed in front of it after he fell, sitting down with his back to its front bumper, police said.

The driver of the Toyota then came back to the car, got inside and ran over Ryff with the car's front tires before stopping, according to the NYPD.

There have been no arrests in the accident, and the NYPD's Collision Investigation Squad is continuing to investigate, police said.
