FLATIRON — Police chased a man through several streets of traffic after they caught him carrying 20 bags of marijuana in the seat of a motorized bike he was riding, according to the NYPD.

Yusufu Jalloh, 22, was riding against traffic on Broadway near 29th Street at 10:29 a.m. on Oct. 12 when officers stopped him for the traffic violation, police said.

During the stop, an officer peeked inside a hollow compartment inside the seat of the bike and discovered 17 small bags and three large bags of marijuana hidden inside, according to a criminal complaint.

Once his stash was discovered, Jalloh tried to run away from the officers by dashing through traffic, almost causing several accidents as drivers swerved to avoid him, police said.

Police chased Jalloh as he ran west on 29th Street, diagonally up Sixth Avenue, and west again on 30th Street before he cut through a seating area to get back to 29th Street, according to a criminal complaint.

Officers finally caught up with Jalloh at Broadway and West 28th Street and arrested him.

Prosecutors charged the man with resisting arrest, reckless endangerment, possession of marijuana, and disorderly conduct, according to court records. A judge released Jalloh without bail, and he is due back in court on Oct. 12.

A lawyer for Jalloh did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
