CONCOURSE VILLAGE — A person was critically injured and two others suffered serious injuries after an SUV slammed into a pedestrian and then hit a light pole in The Bronx Tuesday afternoon, according to surveillance video and the FDNY.

The SUV was heading west on East 167th Street when it slammed into the female pedestrian, sending her tumbling into a wall, and then hit the pole at Webster Avenue at about 3:55 p.m., according to an FDNY spokesman and video.

The pole then fell over the SUV, trapping the driver inside, according to a street vendor who witnessed the crash.

"She opened the car, but could barely make it out," the vendor said. "Some civilians helped her out."

The pedestrian was taken to the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in critical condition, officials and sources said.

The driver and another person were taken to Lincoln Medical Center in serious but stable condition, according to the FDNY.

It was not immediately clear if the third person injured was also in the SUV or another pedestrian.
