MIDTOWN — The winter coat can go back in the closet — at least for now.

The sudden cold snap that hit the city over the weekend is expected to be replaced by temperatures in the high 60s and low 70s for the rest of the week, according to the National Weather Service.

“The normal for this time of year in New York City is 63 degrees for a high and 49 for a low,” NWS spokeswoman Carlie Buccola said.

“Today is significantly colder than that.”

Tuesday’s high is expected to reach 67 degrees, while Wednesday's and Thursday's should reach the low 70s, forecasters said.

The low bottomed out at 35 degrees Monday morning and temperatures are expected to reach 51 during the afternoon, forecasters said.

The low of 35 degrees still falls short of the Oct. 19 record of 30 degrees, set in 1940.
