FORT GREENE — Two con artists scammed a 45-year-old woman out of $10,000 in cash, saying they needed help donating to a church, police said.

The scammers approached the woman on Adelphi Street and Myrtle Avenue at about 2 p.m. on October 5 and asked her for the location of a church because they “wanted to give a large sum of money to charity,” police said.

One of the perpetrators told the victim she would give her some money to distribute — but first, she had to prove her trustworthiness, police said.

The victim agreed, handing over $10,000 in cash to the suspects and getting into their car with them, where they shuffled her money in with counterfeit bills and handed her back the bogus cash, police said.

Other recent crimes in the 88th precinct include:

►A 62-year-old man was robbed of $2,000 at the bus stop at Fort Greene Place and Fulton Street at 1:35 p.m. Oct. 2 after an as-yet-unidentified male approached him, saying “Give up the money” and making a motion like he had a gun.

The victim began fighting with the perpetrator, who hit him in the face, NYPD officials said. The victim scared the first perpetrator away, according to police, but during the battle a second took his cash and ran, police said.

►A 50-year-old woman at the Auburn Shelter on Auburn Place was repeatedly punched in the face by a 24-year-old man, causing her eyes to swell closed, police said. The man, who was arrested for assault, punched her with a closed fist at about 6:34 p.m. Oct 7 during a dispute over an iPod, police said. The woman, who also suffered lacerations, possible fractures and stitches, was taken to Brooklyn Hospital.

►An 18-year-old and a 19-year-old were arrested for robbery after trying to rob a 28-year-old man outside his apartment on Hall Street at about 11:20 p.m. Oct. 8. When the victim tried to run into his house, the 19-year-old tried to break down the door and pointed a firearm at the victim, police said. The 18-year-old acted as a lookout during the incident, according to authorities.

►A 27-year-old man was arrested for stealing a 40-ounce container of Budweiser from the Citgo gas station at 569 Myrtle Ave. at around 1:45 p.m. Oct. 6. The man simulated that he had a firearm during the encounter.
