THE BRONX — Luna, the Siberian Husky pup stolen from a Clason Point family's apartment during a break-in on Tuesday was found safe and sound on Friday and the police nabbed eight people suspected in the dognapping, the police said.

"They're in custody right now, we're questioning them," an NYPD spokesman said.

The white puppy, one of the family's four dogs, was stolen during a break-in, in which the burglars pepper-sprayed the family's dogs and stole $1,000 cash as well as several pairs of Air Jordans, police and relatives said.

After the break-in, the family posted flyers around their neighborhood asking for help to locate the puppy and offering a reward to the person who would find her, Torres said.

The family's eldest son had bought Luna over a month ago for $2,000.

Torres said a man called her early on Friday morning asking her how much the reward for the dog was.

"I told him [the reward] was $500 and then he said he had the dog," Torres said.

The man, who didn't give his name, asked her not to call the police and to meet with him inside a building in the West Farms neighborhood, less than three miles from her home Torres said.

"I was scared, I didn't know if he was telling the truth, so I called the police to go with [them]," Torres said, adding she stayed in the car while police officers went to the meeting point.

The police recovered Luna from the house and handed her to Torres.

Eight men were in the building with the dog and all of them were brought in for questioning, the police said.

"[The men] looked like teenagers, 18 and 19 years-old, one was maybe in his 30's," Torres said.

Torres said it was a stressful moment for her but all worth it because she and her family could be reunited with Luna.

"I'm so happy, my kids are very happy excited, the whole family is happy," she said on Friday afternoon.

An NYPD spokesman said Luna was in "wonderful" shape, but Torres said that even though Luna wasn't injured, she was still "very stressed and scared."

"She's different, she's scared, she don't want to go out, when the police gave her to me, she didn't want to get in the car," Torres said.
