LOWER EAST SIDE — A 35-year-old man threw a 16-year-old girl to the ground after he tried to rob her, police said.
The teen was walking her dog when the suspect approached her in front of 288 Delancey St. at the Baruch Houses on Oct. 5 at 11 p.m., police said.
Police said the would-be robber was convinced the girl had a wallet in her jacket, even though she later told police she did not.
“Look in your jacket, there’s a wallet,” he said before pawing at her jacket, according to the NYPD.
The girl then tried to flee, but the suspect threw her to ground, and pulled the scarf that was around her neck upward, until two good Samaritans chased him away, police said.
Police described the suspect as bald and about 35 years old.
