YORKVILLE — A burglar slipped in through an unlocked fire escape window and snatched $4,000 worth of electronics and other items from an East 85th street apartment on Monday, according to the NYPD.

The thief swiped a MacBook, a hard drive, a safe, a messenger bag and six watches from the home some time between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., when the 26-year-old resident came back from work and discovered them missing, police said.

It wasn't immediately clear what was in the safe. No arrests were made as of Wednesday morning.

On Twitter, the NYPD reminded its followers to lock all doors and windows to prevent a burglary like this one from happening.
