BROOKLYN HEIGHTS — Brooklyn Bridge Park will soon open a marina, complete with a sailing school, community dock and members-only “Harbor Club,” according to a press release.

“ONE°15 Brooklyn Marina,” located between piers 4 and 5 in the park, is set to open in spring 2016, with construction to be completed this fall, the release said.

The harbor will accommodate boats ranging in size from 16 feet to 250 feet, SUTL Group, which runs ONE°15 Marina Club Singapore, announced Monday.

Brooklyn is the “perfect” home for a second such franchise, SUTL Group chairman Arthur Tay said in a statement.

“Boating and the water have long been passions of mine and I recognized an opportunity in Singapore to bring the water and that lifestyle to a wider audience,” Tay said. “As we looked to expand the brand into international destinations we identified the perfect opportunity in Brooklyn with the vibrant, lush public spaces of Brooklyn Bridge Park, Manhattan skyline backdrop and open water.”

The marina will be home to a sailing club, membership in which will allow beginners and practiced sailors time on a large fleet of superior sailboats, according to the release.

Membership starts at $1,000 a year and goes up to $2,900 a year for unlimited sails, according to the marina’s website.

SUTL also promises onsite amenities, concierge and “top-notch security measures.”

Representatives could not give more details on the “members-only Harbor Club,” saying only that it is still in development.

Less than a quarter of the dock space will be set aside for public use, including community boating, the release said.  The marina has committed to providing 150 hours of free boating programming, and 2 percent of gross proceeds will go to support community boating programs annually.

The marina will pay $325,000 a year in rent to the Brooklyn Bridge Park Corporation, the private nonprofit that runs the park. It has a 30-year lease with an annual increase of about 3 percent, the park confirmed. The proprietors were chosen in an RFP process in 2013, according to a park representative. If 10 percent of the marina’s gross earnings exceed the base rent for the year, the park will receive the difference.
