FORT GREENE — Well-loved Dekalb Avenue dive bar The Alibi is recruiting neighborhood pool players for its home teams.

Mondays and Wednesdays, players will meet to face off against other local teams in the American Poolplayers Association league, bartender Jenny Fowler said.

"It's fun, you get to meet people, you make friends," Fowler told DNAinfo New York. "It's a good night out."

Groups of up to eight players can choose a captain and assemble themselves or individuals wanting to join a team should inquire directly with Fowler at the bar, she said.

The teams play at other Brooklyn bars as well as at The Alibi, and winning ones can progress to play to teams in Long Island, New Jersey, and Las Vegas, Fowler said.

Participation runs players $7 for the night, plus a $30 entrance fee into the league, she said.

The bar has a tradition of billiard greatness, with walls of plaques and a filled glass trophy case to show for it.

Former championship teams names include "Woody Hayes," "Mark-Ur-Pocket" and "The People's Republic of Alibi."

"You can make your name whatever," Fowler said.
