SOUTH BEACH — A pizza delivery driver was robbed on Tuesday night after taking an order to the South Beach Houses, which has the station house for the Staten Island Housing Unit inside, prosecutors said.

The 21-year-old man finished delivering pizza to 108 Lamport Blvd. at about 9:45 p.m. when Darren Rivera, 21, allegedly approached him outside the building, holding what appeared to be a gun, and told him to "Give me what you have," prosecutors said.

Rivera took about $500 from the driver then fled, prosecutors said.

Police caught up with Rivera less than an hour later in front of 133 Norway Ave. and recovered $197 from him, but no gun was found, prosecutors said.

Rivera was charged with robbery, petit larceny, criminal possession of stolen property and menacing at his arraignment on Wednesday, the Staten Island District Attorney's office said.

His bail was set at $10,000 and he's due back in court on Sept. 21, according to online court records.

Rivera was also arrested in August and charged with assault, petit larceny and harassment, according to court records.

His lawyer did not respond to a request for comment.
