GRANT CITY — A new bar that will replace one that neighbors said has been a trouble spot for years had its liquor license approved.

Community Board 2 voted in favor of Parker's Sports Bar, which will take over the vacant space at 130 Lincoln Ave., by 22 to 4 at a meeting on Tuesday night.

The building has housed several bars throughout the years, with the last one closing in 2012 after numerous complaints from neighbors, said a resident who lives across the street.

"I don't think it's the right location for that type of establishment with the noise being generated," said the resident, who didn't want to give her name. "We've gone through hell for the past eight years."

To address residents' concerns, the new owners soundproofed windows, cut the hours from 4 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Sunday through Thursday, and promised not to use the backyard space, said Neil Visoky, the owners' lawyer.

The owners said that they planned to open in the next month or two.

Aside from Parker's, the board also approved a license for a new restaurant taking over the space of Bistro at 2561 Hylan Boulevard.

The spot, currently named Hylan Express Cafe, will be operated by the same people who own the diners Z-One and Z-Two, Visoky said.
