NORWOOD — A Bronx woman punched a 10-year-old boy in the face, giving him a bloody nose, after the boy failed to say "please" when asking for something, police said.

The assault took place on Aug. 19 around 2:05 p.m., after two women walked into a grocery store at 271 East 206th St., according to the NYPD.

One of the women then began arguing with the 10-year-old for not saying "please" when he was talking to the cashier, and the dispute escalated from there, culminating with her punching the boy in the face and giving him a bloody nose, police and a store employee said.

The employee stressed that this woman did not know the boy and that he was speaking with the cashier and not her when the fight started.

"He was talking to the cashier, and she just got involved in the business," the employee said.

Both women left the corner store after the attack, and the victim refused medical attention, authorities said.

Although video shows the woman's companion trying to hold her back, the suspect eventually moves her aside and goes to confront her young opponent, walking toward him while holding up a clenched fist.

Officers described the suspect as a women between 35 and 45 years old with long, braided black hair who was last seen in a white button down shirt with a black design and a dark skirt.

Police described the person of interest who was with her as a woman between 25 and 30 years old last seen in a black t-shirt and a hat.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS. The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com or texting their tips to 274637(CRIMES), then entering TIP577.
