UNION SQUARE — A man attacked a police officer after he was caught urinating in Union Square park, police said.
Police said they spotted 26-year-old Hasan Castillo peeing in the park at 10:14 p.m. on Sept. 4. When they tried to arrest him, the man punched an officer in the face and flailed his arms, prosecutors charge.
The struggle continued once police got Castillo into a squad car, where he repeatedly kicked at the rear driver's side window, according to a police report.
An officer was cut on the neck during the attack and was treated at Lenox Hill Hospital, according to the criminal complaint.
Castillo was charged with assault, a felony, and resisting arrest, a misdemeanor. He was held on $5,000 bail and is due back in court on Wednesday, according to the Manhattan District Attorney's office.
His attorney could not immediately be reached for comment.
