PROSPECT PARK SOUTH — A person was seriously hurt in an apartment fire on East 18th Street, an FDNY spokesman said.

The person, whose identity was not immediately released, was injured when flames erupted in a fifth-floor apartment at 145 E. 18th St., near Tennis Court, about 12:30 a.m., the spokesman said.

They were treated at Staten Island University Hospital, officials said.

Approximately 60 firefighters brought the blaze under control about 4:40 a.m., officials said.

Fire marshals will determine what sparked the flames, officials said.
