CORONA — A citywide tourism company is boosting the profile of Corona with a series featuring local insiders.

NYCGO selected the neighborhood for its Insider Guide series, highlighting the slew of cultural institutions and restaurants throughout Corona. It joins Astoria as the two Queens neighborhoods included so far in the feature.

The announcement was made Tuesday, as NYCGO reps embark on the company's first media tour of Mumbai and New Delhi, India — to promote what they call the “new” New York City to would-be tourists abroad, officials said.

It also coincides with the US Open, which runs through Sept. 13.

The series is meant to encourage tourists to explore the neighborhoods throughout New York City, with tips from locals on where to eat and hang out.

Corona's video highlights the cultural institutions inside Flushing Meadows-Corona Park — the Queens Museum, the New York Hall of Science, the Queens Zoo — as well as the Louis Armstrong House and Museum on 107th Street.

And of course there's the food — from Park Side to Tortilleria Nixtamal to the Lemon Ice King of Corona.

“Showcasing Corona gives us one more chance to promote lesser-known areas of the city and showcase our hidden gems as part of our ongoing NYCGO Insider Guide series,” a spokeswoman said.

It also helps to further show off Queens, which was selected last year by Lonely Planet as the best tourism destination in the country.
