WILLIAMSBURG — An angry driver threw a can of Lysol at a man in a grocery store's parking lot for blocking his car, police said.

The driver, 32, was arrested for assaulting a man in the Food Bazaar parking lot at 21 Manhattan Ave. on Friday, Sept. 4, around 2 p.m., according to police and the criminal complaint.

The victim, a 53-year-old man, said he was loading groceries into his mother's car when the assailant, who was driving a white van, became "irate" because he couldn't pass, police said.

When the driver eventually did pass, the victim asked him, "What's the problem?" police said.

The driver responded by hurling a 19-ounce can of Lysol from the driver's side window, hitting the victim in the head and causing it to bleed, police said.

The victim had to be treated at a local hospital for the injury, according to the criminal complaint.

The attacker was arrested and hit with seven charges, including assault, criminal possession of a weapon and harassment.

He was also charged for unlawful possession of marijuana after police found two bags of pot during the arrest, authorities said. He was ultimately released.

The store manager at Food Bazaar said he knew nothing of the incident.
