BUSHWICK — A man who was beaten up outside a restaurant in Bushwick last week died from his injuries on Wednesday, and police are searching for his alleged killer, the NYPD said.

Jose Guzman, 42, of Canarsie, got into an argument with a man on Monday, Aug. 24, just after 4 a.m. outside La Fogata, a Mexican restaurant at 1549 Gates Ave., police said.

The fight escalated, and the man punched Guzman in the face, knocking him to the ground, where he struck his head on the sidewalk, police said.

Guzman was knocked unconscious and died of his injuries on Wednesday.

The suspect fled on Gates Avenue, police said.

The NYPD is seeking both the attacker, who is pictured to the right in surveillance video footage, and a blonde man with glasses, pictured at left in the footage, for questioning.

The incident is now being investigated as a homicide, police said.
