SOUNDVIEW — The weekend assault that left one man dead and injured two others started over a car accident, prosecutors said.

One of the victims injured in the attack, told police that suspects Wander Rosario, 26, and Andrixs Suarez, 23, came up to him on Sunday around 8:35 p.m. in front of 1149 Stratford Ave. and asked, "Did you hit the car?" according to a criminal complaint.

Rosario and Suarez then repeatedly punched him in the head until his mouth was bleeding and his face was swollen and red, according to the Bronx District Attorney.

Another injured victim told authorities that she tried to intercede when she saw Rosario and Suarez beating Ibanez only to be attacked herself.

The incident also left 30-year-old Jose Lucero dead, court documents and police said.

Suarez punched him in the chin, causing him to collapse on the ground and start bleeding from his mouth and from the back of his head, according to court documents.

Police got a call roughly two hours later that Lucero was having trouble breathing, and EMS workers took him to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the NYPD.

Rosario was charged with assault, menacing and harassment for the injuries to Ibanez and Ventura Lucero, while Suarez was hit with the same charges for the injuries and the death of Lucero.

Bail was set at $1,000 for Rosario and $500 for Suarez in the case of the injuries, and it was set at $1,500 bond for Suarez in the case of Lucero's death.

Suarez is due back in court on Sept. 4, and Rosario is due back on Oct. 19, according to prosecutors.
