MT EDEN — A suspect shot a Bronx man in the leg on Monday before fleeing the scene in an SUV, according to the NYPD.

The assault took place around 6:30 p.m. on Monday in front of 115 W. 172nd St. in Mount Eden. The suspect got out of a parked GMC SUV and approached a group in front of the building, police said.

He took out a silver gun and shot off one round as the group fled. He hit a 21-year-old man in the left calf, according to police.

The suspect then jumped back into the rear passenger seat of the SUV and the car sped off.

Video of the crime shows the suspect calmly walking down the sidewalk with his gun out.

The victim went to Lincoln Hospital for treatment and was listed in stable condition Tuesday.

Police said the victim has not been cooperating with investigators. He was shot in another incident earlier this year and did not cooperate with that investigation either, police said.

Officers described the suspect as standing roughly 5-foot-9 and weighing 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue sneakers, a black baseball hat, white shorts and a white T-shirt.

Shootings are up dramatically in the 44th Precinct this year. As of Aug. 16, the precinct had seen 40 victims and 31 incidents, as opposed to 23 and 20 respectively at that point last year.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
