When: All day Saturday and Sunday

Ms. Lauryn Hill, Grace Jones, Suicidal Tendencies and Danny Brown are among the headliners at Fort Greene’s yearly gathering of the cool, the funky, the Afropunk. This formerly free festival will charge admission for the first time this year. Tickets for the entire weekend cost $75; tickets for Saturday or Sunday are $45.

FRIDAY, AUG. 21

Opening of Ode to Babel shop

Where: 772 Dean St., Prospect Heights
When: all day

A new "lifestyle bar" created by two sisters and their nephew is opening this weekend on Dean Street, selling coffee, booze and a whole lot of lovely housewares and body care products. The owners see it as a “stimulating” space, offering things “made with love,” they told DNAinfo. Check it out!

Chorizo Dog Night

Where: 759 Nostrand Ave., Crown Heights
When: 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Crown Heights cafe Colina Cuervo will host its first-ever “Chorizo Dog Night,” a special event celebrating a unique take on the hot dog. For $10, visitors can get the dog (garnished with avocado, mayo, relish and queso fresco), crispy baked potatoes, and a drink.

SATURDAY, AUG. 22

The 12th Annual Madonnathon

Where: Brooklyn Bowl, 61 Wythe Ave., Williamsburg
When: Doors at 6 p.m.; show at 8 p.m.

Get out your cone bras, Madonna fans. Brooklyn Bowl is hosting a night of dancing and singing in tribute to the original Material Girl. Attendees with the best costumes will get prizes and time on stage. Tickets cost $15.

"High-Caliber" Stand-up Comedy at Dizzy's Diner

Where: The Room at Dizzy's, 230 Fifth Ave., Park Slope
When: 8 p.m.

Tickets are $10 for this monthly comedy show at the Fifth Avenue location of Dizzy's. Organizer Jennifer Salzman said she created the show so local comedy fans can see "high-caliber" comics in their own neighborhood. "Instead of traveling into the city, paying a steep cover charge plus two drink minimum at a traditional comedy club, they can access the same quality entertainment right here in the neighborhood," Salzman told DNAinfo New York. Performers include Mark Normand, Chloé A. Hilliard, Subhah Agarwal, Jon Laster, Steve Marden, JC Knows Best, and Jennifer Salzman.

Pickpocket Party

Where: 1067 Pacific St., Crown Heights
When: 8 to 11 p.m.

The artists' collective “1067 Pacific” is holding their second “Pickpocket Party,” which is a “participatory performance” inviting everyone “to become a body of outlaw,” organizers said. The group first held the party in April to help pay their rent. If you’re into weird arty stuff and don’t mind (maybe?) getting your wallet stolen, check it out. Tickets are $15 online and $20 at the door.

SUNDAY AUG. 23

Last Day of Smorgasburg at Brooklyn Bridge Park

Where: Pier 5, Brooklyn Bridge Park, Brooklyn Heights
When: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The outdoor food bazaar Smorgasburg is pulling up stakes and heading to the east side of Prospect Park starting Aug. 30. Stuff your face for the last time at the Brooklyn Bridge location at Pier 5, where vendors range from Alchemy Creamery to Zia Green Chile Co.

Soul Summit Music Festival

Where: Restoration West Plaza, 1368 Fulton St., Bed-Stuy
When: 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

This free outdoor dance party brings the best of classic disco, house, Latin, and jazz tunes to Bed-Stuy. DJs and organizers say you won’t hear anything that’s on the radio now, and attendees have referred to the festival as the ‘electronic version of Woodstock.’

"Titanic" Trivia

Where: Videology, 308 Bedford Ave., Williamsburg
When: 7 p.m.

Fans of the 1997 James Cameron blockbuster starring Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio can test their knowledge at this trivia night. Answering correctly in five rounds of questioning, including a clips round, a picture round and a general knowledge round, will get your team special prizes. The maximum team size is four people.
