BULLS HEAD — A former Marine died early Sunday morning after he crashed his motorcycle into two parked cars, police said.

Andrew Salabarria, 23, of Annadale, was riding his 2013 Kawasaki motorcycle northbound on Richmond Avenue at about 1:05 a.m., when he lost control of the bike, crossed a divider and crashed into two parked cars near Signs Road, police said.

He was transported to Staten Island University Hospital North with severe body trauma and was pronounced dead, police said.

Salabarria was a corporal in the Marines and served two tours of duty in Afghanistan, according to DVIDS, a public relations firm operated by the U.S. Military.

He served as a turret gunner during his last tour in 2013, and previously graduated from Susan E. Wagner High School.

“It’s a bumpy ride,” Salabarria told DVIDS about working as a gunner.

“I enjoy it. You’re exposed, but you see how the Afghans live on a first hand basis. It’s more personal.”
