Weekend Service Changes to hit 15 Lines, MTA Says

NEW YORK CITY — The weekend weather is set to be sunny, so it might be wise to take advantage of walking because 15 subway lines are scheduled for service changes from Friday to early Monday morning.

1 Line: Service will be suspended in both directions between 14th Street and South Ferry from 11.30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Commuters can take a local 2 or 3 train between 34th Street-Penn Station and Chambers Street or a free shuttle bus between Chambers Street and South Ferry.

2 Line: Service will be suspended in both directions between East 180th Street and 149th Street Grand Concourse from 3:30 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday.

Free shuttle buses will make all local stops.

An express shuttle bus will also run between East 180th Street and 149th Street Grand Concourse, making a stop at the Hunts Point Avenue 6 train station.

Trains will run local between Chambers Street and 34th Street-Penn Station from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

3 Line: Service will run local in both directions between Chambers Street and 34th Street-Penn Station from 6:30 a.m. to midnight, Saturday and Sunday.

Trains are skipping Rockaway Avenue and Van Siclen Avenue in both directions at all times until late September. Free shuttle bus service will be provided.

4 Line: Downtown trains will run local from 125th Street to 14th Street-Union Square from 12:01 a.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Downtown trains will run express from 14th Street-Union Square to Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 7:30 a.m. Sunday and 11:45 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday

5 Line: Service will be suspended from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Riders can take the 2, 4 or 6 lines or a free shuttle bus that will run along two routes:

• Shuttle buses will make local stops between Eastchester-Dyre Avenue and East 180th Street.

• Limited shuttle buses will run express between Dyre Avenue and 149th Street-Grand Concourse stopping at the Hunts Point Avenue 6 train station and 3rd Avenue-149th Street.

6 Line: Downtown trains will run express from 14th Street-Union Square to Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday.

Manhattan-bound trains will run express from Pelham Bay Park to Parkchester from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Downtown trains will skip 103rd Street at all times until September.

A Line: Service will be rerouted over the F line in both directions from Jay Street-MetroTech to West 4th Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Trains will run express from 59th Street to West 4th Street from 12:00 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday 

Uptown trains will run express from 125th Street to 168th Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 6:30 a.m. Sunday and 11:45 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Brooklyn-bound trains will skip the Rockaway Boulevard stop at all times until the fall.

For service to the station, take a Brooklyn-bound train to 88th Street and transfer to a Far Rockaway or Lefferts Boulevard-bound train.

For service from the station, take a Far Rockaway-bound train to Aqueduct-North Conduit Avenue or a Lefferts Boulevard-bound train to 104th Street and transfer to a Brooklyn-bound train.

C Line: Service will be rerouted in both directions over the F line from Jay Street-MetroTech to West 4th Street from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Uptown trains will run express from 125th Street to 168th Street from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

D Line: Downtown trains are rerouted via the N line from 36th Street to Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue from 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday.

E Line: Service is suspended in both directions between Jamaica Center and Briarwood until 5 a.m. Monday. 

Shuttle buses will run from Jamaica Center to Union Turnpike, stopping at Sutphin Boulevard-Archer Avenue, Jamaica-Van Wyck, and Briarwood.

For additional connections between Manhattan and Queens, riders can use the A and J trains via Broadway Junction.

Trains will run local in both directions between Queens Plaza and Forest Hills-71st Avenue from 12:01 am. Saturday to 5 a.m Monday

F Line: Queens-bound trains will run express from Neptune Avenue to Smith-9th Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Trains will run local in both directions between 21st Street-Queensbridge and Forest Hills-71st Avenue from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday

Queens-bound trains will skip Ditmas Avenue at all times until the fall.

For service to the station, riders can take a Queens-bound train to Church Avenue and transfer to a Coney Island-bound train.

For service from the station, riders can take a Coney Island-bound train to 18th Avenue and transfer to a Queens-bound train.

Queens-bound trains will also skip Avenue X at all times until the winter.

For service to the station, riders can take a Queens-bound train to Avenue U and transfer to a Coney Island-bound train.

For service from this station, riders can take a Coney Island-bound train to Neptune Avenue and transfer to a Queens-bound train.

L Line: Service will operate in two sections, between 8th Avenue and Broadway Junction and every 24 minutes between Broadway Junction and Rockaway Parkway from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

N Line: Service will be rerouted over the D line in both directions between Coney Island and 36th Street in Brooklyn from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Queens-bound trains will skip 49th Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Brooklyn-bound trains will skip 45th Street and 53rd Street from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday

Q Line: Manhattan-bound trains will run express from Kings Highway to Prospect Park from 11:15 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Manhattan-bound trains will skip 49th Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 6:30 a.m. Sunday and from 11:45 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday.

R Line: Queens-bound trains will skip 49th Street from 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

36th Street-bound trains will stop at 53rd Street and 45th Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 6:30 a.m. Sunday and 11:45 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday.
