CROWN HEIGHTS — A 17-year-old girl was arrested in Crown Heights last week for beating two 21-year-old women with a baseball bat before robbing them of their iPhones, police said.

Shakira Jordan, 17, was arrested shortly after the Aug. 6 beating in which she and a group of suspects who are still at large approached two women, both 21, in front of a Caribbean restaurant at 1695 President St. near Utica Avenue and attacked them, police and prosecutors said.

Jordan used an aluminum baseball bat to strike the women while she and the others in the group kicked and punched them. During the assault, each of the women’s iPhones were taken from their pockets, according to court documents.

Jordan was arraigned on multiple charges the next day, including assault, robbery, menacing and harassment. She was released with an order of protection and is due back in court on Oct. 22, court records show.

It’s unclear how many other people were involved in the attack; prosecutors say "several" unapprended suspects were present during the crime. Police are looking for one other 17-year-old identified in the assault, sources said, but no additional arrests have been made.

Jordan’s attorney could not be reached for comment.
