CONCOURSE — An Asian restaurant serving sushi, chicken teriyaki and a $6 lunch buffet is on its way to Grand Concourse next month.

The Asian Grille Express, which expects to open at 888 Grand Concourse in early September, will offer up a variety of dishes to Bronxites, including salmon rolls, sashimi and bubble tea, according to general manager David Wang.

Wang also hopes to offer customers a $6 lunch buffet consisting of one meat, one vegetable and one side, although he said he had not yet finalized the menu.

He said lunch would be prepared quickly to help cater to patrons who come during their breaks and only have about an hour to eat.

"I think it’s better to make a little quickly and let people have enough time to enjoy the food," Wang said.

The restaurant's management team formerly owned an eatery in the nearby Concourse Plaza but was ejected from the space about two years ago because the landlord wanted to do something else with the spot, Wang said.

Wang said a reason he chose the new spot because it's close to the former plaza.

"We came back at the old location so people will find us easier," Wang said.

The location has space for a big dining room that Wang estimates will seat between 80 and 90 people.

Cary Goodman, executive director of the 161st Street BID, was glad to see the restaurant come back as well and was optimistic that it could help improve the health of the neighborhood.

"When he was here last time, he served up a lot of healthy options that Popeyes doesn’t have," he said.

Jose Rodriguez, District Manager of Bronx Community Board 4, said he hoped to see the Asian eatery do well.
