LOWER EAST SIDE — A 28-year-old man was slashed in the chest and face in an attempted robbery last week, police said.

The man was walking northbound on Ridge Street on Aug. 5 at 2:15 a.m. to get food, when another man approached him at Delancey Street and asked for his money, police said.

When the victim refused, the would-be thief went for the victim’s pocket in an attempt to take his money, sparking a fight between them that was cut short by another man who approached the victim and slashed him with an unknown object, according to the NYPD.

Police said the 28-year-old man ran away and called 911. It was unclear which hospital treated him.

There were no arrests as of Thursday.
