ASTORIA — Police are looking for a man who robbed a Queens furniture store employee at knife point while trying to get a refund there last month.

The suspect entered The American Design Furniture store at 32-94 Steinway St. shortly before 6 p.m. on July 23 and started arguing with the worker. The man demanded the store refund his money for furniture that was not delivered, a source said.

The suspect then pulled out a knife and held it against the 24-year-old store employee, who then gave the suspect his money back. But the man continued to threaten the worker and stole an additional $1,500 from the employee's pants pockets, according to police.

The thief fled the scene in a car, according to the NYPD. The worker was hospitalized for minor injuries and released. Police could not provide details on how the victim got the injuries.

The suspect is described as being between 28 and 30 years old, standing 6-feet tall and weighing 190 pounds. He has short black hair and freckles and was seen wearing jeans and a pink shirt.

The manager of the furniture store did not immediately return a message for comment.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
