BROOKLYN — Put on your dancing shoes, kids.

On Wednesday, the Brooklyn Nets will hold auditions for the team’s official junior dance team, Brooklyn Nets Kids, for the upcoming 2015-2016 season.

The open call is for kids ages 6 to 13 who want to be one of a handful of dancers who are paid to perform at Nets home games at the Barclays Center throughout the year.

The dancers are required to attend Saturday and Sunday home games and one rehearsal every week, according to requirements posted online by the NBA. The team also appears periodically at various Nets events and media appearances in the New York City area.

In previous years, hundreds of kids have auditioned for 16 or 17 spots on the team, according to the Brooklyn Nets Kids choreographer Tanisha Scott. DNAinfo interviewed kids and parents who attended the first Brooklyn Nets Kids audition in 2012:

Potential dancers will be cut from the auditions in two elimination rounds on Wednesday and the final team will be chosen by Monday, August 17, Scott said.

Kids who want to try out must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to the audition, which will take place at 6 p.m. at LIU Brooklyn at 1 University Plaza on Flatbush and DeKalb avenues. Doors open at 5 p.m. and finalists may be required to stay at the try-out until 9:30 p.m.
