Police Searching for Suspect in Upper West Side Bank Robbery

 There have been three bank robberies between West 76th Street and West 86th Street in a thirty day period, police reported.

UPPER WEST SIDE — A man knocked over a Santander Bank branch on Broadway Thursday — the third bank robbery to occur in a 10-block radius over the past month, police said.

The suspect entered the bank near West 83rd Street at about 4:30 p.m., approached the teller and demanded money, according to police. He then fled with an undetermined amount of cash, police said.

The man had a mustache, carried a black backpack, and was wearing a black hat with orange and white writing and white T-shirt, according to a photo released by police.  

No one was injured in the robbery, police said.  

In mid-July, a man wearing an Angry Birds hat robbed a Chase Bank on West 86th Street and fled with an unknown amount of cash, police said.

A second suspect robbed another Chase Bank branch on Columbus Avenue at West 76th Street in early August, also making off with an unknown amount of cash, police said. 

No injuries were reported in either incidents and no weapons werre displayed, according to police.
