All Weekend

► Lighthouse Weekend

Where: National Lighthouse Museum, 200 Promenade at Lighthouse Pointe, St. George

The National Lighthouse Museum will celebrate "Lighthouse Weekend" this year with several events on Saturday and Sunday and free admission on both days. On Saturday, the museum will host a book signing with Gregory E. Zschomler, author of the children's book “Louie the Lonely Lighthouse,” at 11 a.m. At 2:30 p.m., they'll host a panel presentation with Captain Jospeh Ahlstrom featuring: Charles Vanderhoop III, grandson of Mr. Charles Vanderhoop, Sr., Keeper of the Gay Head Light Station and first Native American to serve as a head keeper with the USLHS; Loren Graham, Professor at MIT and owner and Keeper of the Grand Island North Light, MI; Hibbard Casselberry, historian and keeper of the Hillsboro Inlet Light in Florida; and Craig Morrison, administrator of the Execution Rocks Light located in Long Island Sound.

On Sunday, the museum will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and it'll host a Signature Boat Tour leaving from Pier 11 at South and Wall streets in Manhattan, at 11 a.m. To register visit the website. 

Saturday, August 8

► "Coolin on Castleton" Sidewalk Festival and Art Exhibit

Where: Richmond Hood Company, 820 Castleton Ave., West Brighton

Artists will unveil several new murals — including one celebrating Staten Island — at the third annual "Coolin' on Castleton" sidewalk festival from noon to 7 p.m. More than 50 artists worked on murals at several walls in the neighborhood and the day also includes DJs and live music in the "Artists' Alley" next door to Richmond Hood Company. Also scheduled for the event is live painting, food and a barber competition.

► Acoustic Stomp

Where: Tappen Park, Water and Bay streets, Stapleton

The annual free "Acoustic Stomp" concert returns to Tappen Park from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Performers set for the day are The Mighty String Demons, Cadre, Bob and Ruth, Doni and Company, Jessie Kuffner, Carl Wurzbach, Matt Wilson, Allergic to Bs, Omnia, Big Frank Mirra, A Cast of Thousands and Sonwa.

Staten Island Yankees "Game of Thrones" Night

Where: Richmond County Bank Ballpark, 75 Richmond Terrace, St. George

The Staten Island Yankees will change their name to the Staten Island Direwolves as they celebrate "Game of Thrones" with a visit from "A Song of Fire and Ice" author George R.R. Martin. Martin will sign autographs and the team will don a special uniform for their game against the Hudson Valley Renegades. The jerseys will be auctioned off after the game, with proceedings going to the Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary. A live wolf will also serve as the mascot for the game and the first 2,500 people who enter the stadium will get a free hat with the logo

► "Back to the Future" and "A Nightmare on Elm Street" Screenings

Where: Historic Richmond Town, 441 Clarke Ave., Richmond Town

Historic Richmond Town's brings back the drive-through movie experience for its last "All American Drive-In" screening this year with a 7 p.m. showing of the classic "Back to the Future," where Marty McFly travels to the past in a DeLorean and makes sure his parents still get together. Tickets are $24.99 for Sedans, $33.99 for SUV/Mini-vans, $59.99 for full size vans, $8.99 for motorcycles and $5.99 for walk ins who'll sit in the picnic area. The showing also includes short films submitted to the festival.

At 11:20 p.m., the museum will continue their "After, After Dark" series with an indoor showing of "A Nightmare on Elm Street," where serial killer Freddy Krueger hunts people in their dreams. The screening concludes with a zombie walk through the historic facility. Tickets are $15 at the door, $10 pre-sale. 

Sunday, August 7

Pet Parade

Where: Midland Beach, Turtle Circle, Father Capodanno Boulevard and Jefferson Avenue entrance

The Staten Island Beach Fest will host a pet parade starting at 2 p.m. at the Midland Beach Promenade. Owners will march with their pets to the Turtle Circle and prizes will be awarded for the most creatively dressed pet.
