International Cat Day is Saturday, August 8. (If you aren't able to celebrate, don't worry, you can plan ahead for National Cat Day on Thursday, October 29). In honor of felines around the world, this weekend, you can shop for fast fashion and adopt a furry friend at the same location.

Animal welfare nonprofit Best Friends Animal Society and retailer Urban Outfitters have teamed up to offer kittens and cats for adoption at eight stores in Manhattan and Brooklyn on Saturday, Aug. 8, a.k.a International Cat Day.

Urban Outfitters is covering all adoption fees for the day, and cats will come spayed or neutered, microchipped and vaccinated.

The adoption initiative isn't the only event in the city marking International Cat Day, a holiday founded by the International Funding for Animal Welfare in 2002. The Moving of the Moving Image opens its exhibition dedicated to the Internet feline, "How Cats Took Over the Internet," on Friday.

You can find a list of all Urban Outfitters stores hosting felines for adoption here.
