YORKVILLE — "Widowmaker" and "Dirty Hipster" are just a couple of the 20 types of burgers offered at a new bar opening on Second Avenue.

Mel's Burger Bar is opening a new outpost at 1450 Second Ave., between 75th and 76th streets, in September, with a selection of craft beers and burgers with adventurous toppings, like the "Dirty Hipster" made with spinach dip, jack cheese and onion rings.

The "Widowmaker" burger is made with mac and cheese and bacon, and the "Hot Mess" burger incorporates jalapenos, bacon crumbles, Monterey jack, charred onion and garlic sriracha mayo.

The burger joint has one other location in Morningside Heights at 2850 Broadway, which opened in 2010. The new restaurant is still under construction, and is planning to include outdoor seating.

Mel's Burger Bar owner Steven Kay got the green light from Community Board 8 for a sidewalk application on Tuesday.
