WEST VILLAGE — A 20-year-old man snatched $35 from another man standing on a corner in the West Village, police said.

The 47-year-old victim was holding a $20 bill, a $10 and a $5 on the corner across from the Starbucks at 72 Grove St. on July 28 about 2:10 a.m., when the younger man yanked the cash from his left hand and ran off, police said.

The thief had a Caesar-style haircut and was 5-foot-8 and 230 pounds, police said.

Officers arrested him and were able to recover $15 for the victim, police said. It was unclear where the $20 ended up.

An officer also found a bag of cocaine in the alleged thief's pocket, police said.

He was arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court on charges of felony grand larceny in the fourth degree for stealing property from a person and misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled substance, according to court records.

His attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment. He was released without bail and is due back in court on Oct. 27, according to court records.
